Greater Grays Harbor Inc. names a new CEO [The Daily World, Aberdeen, Wash. :: ](Daily World, The (Aberdeen, WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 24--The board of directors for Greater Grays Harbor Inc., has named an economic development specialist with the State of Alaska to be the organization's new CEO. Andre "Dru" Garson, currently works for the Alaska Department of Commerce and Community Economic Development in Juneau. He has worked in disadvantaged regions of the state to develop and establish economic development and tourism programs, according to Greater Grays Harbor. Garson is finishing a project for the State of Alaska and will take his new post in September. He takes over for Tim Gibbs who resigned in May. "There are a lot of similarities between the economy of Grays Harbor and many communities that I've worked with throughout Southeast Alaska," Garson said in a news release. "I'm excited about moving to Grays Harbor and look forward to meeting and working with the local business community." Garson has a master's degree in resource recreation and tourism and has worked in many regions of Alaska to develop tourism and workforce development with a focus on key industry clusters in that state, Callie White, communications director of Greater Grays Harbor, said. Garson's qualifications align well with the projects that the board has established in their strategic planning for the organization, said Mike O'Dell, Greater Grays Harbor's board chairman.
