Egypt's mobile subscriptions up 1.54% q/q, internet users jump 8.8% q/q in Q1 2014 [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]
(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The number of mobile subscriptions increased by 1.54% q/q to 101.24mn in the first three months of 2014, raising the penetration rate by 1.26% q/q to 119.45% of Egypt's total population, reported the quarterly bulletin of the Ministry of Communications and IT. The total number of internet users jumped 8.80% q/q to 42.16mn with the internet penetration rate jumping to 49.74%. Proportion of internet broadband users was about 92.71% of total internet users in Q1 2014 compared to 90.78% of total internet users in Q1 2013.
The number of fixed-line telephone users declined by 0.44% q/q to 6.79mn users with the penetration rate falling by 0.08% q/q to 8.14% at the end of Q1.
