Hurricane Electric Adds New Point of Presence at Telx in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--

Hurricane Electric, the world's largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, today announced that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Telx's San Francisco data center (SFR1), located at 200 Paul Avenue, San Francisco, CA (News - Alert), 94124.

Strategically located south of downtown San Francisco, this new PoP will enable customers of SFR1 to experience improved fault tolerance, lower latency and increased network capacity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connetions. Additionally, customers will now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or "peer," with Hurricane Electric's (News - Alert) global network.

"This new PoP will give customers of SFR1 additional connectivity options, while expanding access to next generation IP service," said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric.

Hurricane Electric employs a resilient fiber-optic topology, and has no less than four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia. Having first deployed IPv6 in 2001, Hurricane Electric offers IPv6 as a core service; every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.
