Blackberry unveils Blackberry Guardian to scan for malware [T-break Tech (Middle East)]
(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Earlier at Blackberry Security Summit 2014, Blackberry announced that they have teamed up with Trend Micro to launch the Blackberry Guardian- a built in scanner that scans Android apps for malware. This will add an extra layer of security against the threat of malicious Android apps, especially with the recent announcement on the Amazon App Store for Blackberry where malicious apps could sneak in.
Once the user tries to install any Android app, Guardian will fire up to scan for malicious codes, and confirms the user that the app is safe to use. The Blackberry Guardian will be available in new devices such as the Blackberry Passport and Blackberry Classic. Existing Blackberry 10 users will receive it as an update and will have to enable the Guardian under the settings menu.
