Windstream Q2 Profit Falls
(dpa-AFX International Compact Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Telecommunications services provider Windstream Corp. (WIN) Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $14 million or $0.02 per share, down from $40 million or $0.06 per share in the same quarter last year.
Recent-quarter results included about $0.02 per share related to merger and integration, restructuring and other expense. Excluding items, adjusted earnings per share were $0.04.
On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.08 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues and sales for the quarter declined 2 percent to $1.47 billion from $1.50 billion a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.48 billion for the quarter.
Total costs and expenses advanced to $1.30 billion from $1.27 billion a year ago.
Windstream also affirmed its previously provided financial guidance for 2014. Total revenues are still expected within a range of a 2.5 percent decline to a 1 percent increase as compared to 2013 revenue.
