Gilat Satcom To Exploit Growing Internet Demand In Nigeria With Fibre Launch [Ventures Africa]


(Ventures Africa Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ventures Africa – Leading fibre optics service provider in Asia, Africa and Middle East, Gilat Satcom, this week, announced the launch of its fibre network into Nigeria to meet the growing demand from partners and businesses across the Country.



"Nigeria's economy is growing at a fast pace and our latest investment reflects our commitment to Nigerian and its businesses," Mr. Rio Valdir Filstein, General Manager of Gilat Satcom Nigeria said.

The company has been in the country’s broadband business for over 20 years. It has further deepened its reach by the launch of a fibre network which will connect Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt to the global internet backbone through the West African Cable System (WACS) undersea cable.


Gilat satcom hold a stake in WIOCC, owners of WACS, and has commissioned its point of presence (POP) in Lagos which is now connected directly to Gilat Satcom's POP in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Recently, Gilat satcom also announced more investment in East Africa with the establishment of new POP in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania to boost its broadband network.

Gilat Satcom Multi- Protocol Labeling Switch (MPLS) network connects to both WACS, SEACOM and EASSy undersea cables through fiber local loops across Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique.
