GLOBAL BRANDS GET SECOND WIND ONLINE

(Indian Business Insight Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Global fashion brands like Replay jeans, Energie apparel and Salvatos flip-flops, which were forced to shut their India stores, are making a comeback through sites like Flipkart, Myntra and others because of the boom in online retailing. Italian jeans brand Replay, which exited India in 2008, is preparing to return through Flipkart and Myntra. However, it will not have a brick-and-mortar presence. Italian brand Energie, which had ended its partnership with Arvind Brands in 2012, is making a comeback. Foldable flip-flop brand Salvatos of New York exited India two years ago because its partner Wadhawan Group exited retailing. It is now getting ready for its digital re-entry through the online channel. It has hired e-commerce consultancy Ace Turtle to forge online partnerships. Mobile handset maker Xiaomi of China made its India debut on 22 Jul 2014 with online sales of Mi3 phone on Flipkart. The recent phones of Motorola are being sold only on Flipkart. Jabong is getting a healthy response to fashion brand Dorothy Perkins of the United Kingdom (UK), which entered India solely through the e-commerce route.
