This is contained in a statement issued by Mrs Stella Uchegbu, the Corps Pulic Education Officer, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Oyeyemi said that the deployment of ICT applications in the commission's administrative and operational processes had impacted positively on safety management as well as road users.

He commended NICOMSAT for promoting the local content initiative by deploying the radio frequency identification model to provide to enhance the nation's quest for ICT.

The corps marshal said the FRSC would partner with the NIGCOMSAT to enhance its operations by deploying the radio frequency identification-enabled technology in its operations.

Earlier, Alade said NIGCOMSAT had initiated a radio frequency identification technology, which would allow radio waves to identify and verify driver's license and vehicle number plate.

She explained that the device comprised a wireless tag that read information contained in the wireless tag and data base.

"The system also houses an anti-counterfeit detector which can be used to identify fake number plates and driver's license.

"It can also be used to extract the history of drivers and their traffic offence record, and can be used for real time satellite tracking and monitoring of vehicles," she said.
