Former IU Public Policy Institute Director John Krauss Named to Indiana Disciplinary Commission

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 14 -- Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis issued the following news release: John Krauss, former and founding director of the Indiana University Public Policy Institute, has been named to a five-year term on the Indiana Disciplinary Commission. Krauss is a 1976 graduate of the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

An agency of the Indiana Supreme Court, the disciplinary commission is responsible for investigating and prosecuting claims of misconduct against lawyers licensed to practice law in Indiana, and for protecting lawyers against unwarranted claims of misconduct.

The Indiana Supreme Court has the exclusive power to take action against a lawyer's license to practice law. The commission is a board of citizens appointed by the high court to five-year terms. It is made up of seven lawyers and two non-lawyers and employs staff to investigate and prosecute cases.

Krauss recently retired as a full-time Indiana University faculty member and director of the IU Public Policy Institute. He continues working part time at IU as a senior advisor to the IUPUI chancellor and teaching intensive courses in mediation at IU McKinney School of Law and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Additionally, he maintains a law practice as a mediator/arbitrator.

Krauss joins three other IU McKinney alumni on the commission: chair Catherine Nestrick, '93; treasurer Andrielle Metzel, '96; and Leanna Weissman, '94.
