BRIEF: Interim UW Hospital CEO named [The Wisconsin State Journal :: ]
(Wisconsin State Journal (Madison, WI) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 15--Ron Sliwinski, chief operating officer of UW Hospital, was named interim president and CEO Friday, following the announcement Wednesday that Donna Katen-Bahensky is retiring as president and CEO Sept. 1 amid restructuring of UW Health.
Sliwinski, who has worked at UW Hospital since 2009, will lead the hospital while a planning group studies how to integrate the hospital and UW-Madison's doctor group, the UW Medical Foundation, into one organization, said David Walsh, chairman of the UW Hospital board.
Integration could involve a full merger of the two entities, a joint operating agreement or other arrangements, Walsh said. The process likely will eliminate the hospital CEO position and appoint one leader to oversee the integrated organization, he said.
An interim hospital CEO was named because the hospital needs leadership during planning for the restructuring, Walsh said.
