Telekom Austria's Serbian unit completes first two phases of EUR 23mn network upgrade [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]

(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Serbian unit of Telekom Austria, Vip Mobile, said earlier this week it has completed the first two phases of its EUR 23mn network improvement project, covering 21 cities and more than 550 locations.

The upgraded network is providing customers with better signal coverage, outdoor and indoor, and better voice quality. The telecom is currently setting up more than 320 2G and 3G base stations along major roads and in smaller towns for faster mobile internet.

Vip Mobile saw its operating loss (EBIT) dropping to EUR 3.1mn in the first quarter of 2014 from EUR 3.2mn in the same period of 2013. The company's revenue climbed 15.6% y/y to EUR 49.3mn mainly due to higher equipment revenues.
