NCKU's Professor Hsiao-Hwa Chen Led "IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine" Ranked as No. 1 in the World

TAINAN, Taiwan --(Business Wire)--

The IEEE (News - Alert) Wireless Communications Magazine has been ranked as the number one technical publication in three major categories according to "2014 Journal Citation Reports (JCR)", as told by its Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Hsiao-Hwa Chen, who currently is a Distinguished Professor of Engineering Science at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan.

Chen said, according to the most recent JCR released by Thomson (News - Alert) Reuters "ISI Web of Knowledge" in 2014 July, the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine has been ranked as the most prestigious academic publication in three major categories in the world.

He also revealed that the magazine comes out to the very top in the categories of Engineering, Electrical & Electronic with 247 publications, Telecommunications with 78 publications, and Computer Science, Hardware & Architecture with 50 pblications, respectively.

He also said, the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine has achieved an Impact Factor of 6.524, which is the publication with the highest Impact Factor ever achieved in the IEEE Communications (News - Alert) Society (ComSoc) publication history.

Chen has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine since 2011. He said, "I'm very pleased with the result and hope to maintain its top position for the years to come."

He also pointed out, "It is significant that the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine as a technical publication can reach to an Impact Factor as high as 6.524."

The Impact Factor of a technical publication directly reflects its influence or importance in the related research areas in the world, according to Chen.

He explained, "The Impact Factors of most engineering/technical journals usually are somewhere in between 2 and 3. A technical journal with its impact factor of 3.0 is already doing extremely well in terms of its academic status."

Chen said that he has spent a great amount of time to improve the influence of IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine in the related areas.

One of his most important efforts is to shorten its submission-to-publication cycle, and this contributes to attracting quality submissions from world-class experts working in the areas.

Knowing the good news, Chen expressed his gratitude to NCKU, the Engineering College, and the Department of Engineering Science for their strong support during his terms as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine.
