Eden Research Appoints Sean Smith As Chief Executive, Shuffles Board

(Alliance News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LONDON (Alliance News) - Eden Research PLC said Monday that it has appointed Sean Smith as chief executive, effective September 1.

Eden Research is an intellectual property development company focused on health-related projects.

Its current Executive Deputy Chairman Ken Brooks will move to a non-executive director role, and Managing Director Clive Newitt will become business development director, said the company.

Smith joins Eden Research from Intellectual Ventures Management LLC, where he was head of Europe and innovation advisor in its invention development fund. Previously, he held the position of chief executive of MatOx Ltd.


Eden Research said that this restructuring of its board and Smith's appointment come at a "key inflection point" for the business, as it saw the first products sold using its GO-E technology.

"We know we still have more to do and the opportunities available for our natural encapsulation GO-E technology are numerous," said Non-Executive Chairman Tom Lupton in a statement. "It is with great confidence that we look forward to taking advantage of these opportunities and benefiting from Sean's wealth of experience in leadership, corporate development, project management, as well as intellectual property licensing." Shares in Eden were Monday quoted at 7.50 pence, untraded.
