INSERTING and REPLACING Healthcare's Trillion Dollar Transformation Comes to Life at MediFuture

TAMPA, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Insert updated boilerplate for MediFuture.

The corrected release reads:

HEALTHCARE'S TRILLION DOLLAR TRANSFORMATION COMES TO LIFE AT MEDIFUTURE

Senior leaders convene to accelerate change, experience health and wellness innovation

What would be possible if every American had access to patient-centered, consumer-driven, and value-based healthcare? The Oliver Wyman (News - Alert) Health Innovation Center (OWHIC) and the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation enlisted six of the nation's most innovative health market companies and their partner organizations to answer this question with "living" exhibits that demonstrate the future of the health and wellness market in Tampa this September 16-18 at MediFuture 2024, an exclusive invitation-only event.

  • GuideWell will demonstrate the way it brings together cutting-edge products, services, and innovative technology to create an integrated health ecosystem that empowers consumers to manage their own health in the home, office, and care settings.
  • CareMore, renowned for its ability to manage the complex health problems of the aging, will demonstrate a visit to a care clinic and how its operating principles of early intervention, speedy deployment, clinical control, and efficient allocation of resources keep its senior members - from the frail to the healthy - out of the hospital and on their feet.
  • Iora Health, a primary care provider with a built-from-scratch care model and (as of this September) offices in six states, and EosHealth, a technology solutions provider changing how people are living with diabetes, will show how they are transforming the patient experience through a radically different approach to care.
  • Jawbone, maker of the popular wireless Up band, will demonstrate how a magnetic consumer product, linked to a wellness platform, can drive real and lasting impact to consumer health and wellness.
  • Welltok¸ creator of the CaféWell Health Optimization Platform, is introducing the power of an integration platform to guide and reward consumers to achieve optimal health. The company will demonstrate two personal health journeys, featuring ecosystem partners BioIQ, Wildflower Health, Brain Resource, MotiveMI, Wellsource, and MapMyFitness, as well as the IBM (News - Alert) Watson's cognitive computing capabilities.

"Over the years we've learned that to really understand how effective new care models can be, you have to experience them in person," says Tom Main, partner and U.S. market leader for the Health & Life Sciences practice of Oliver Wyman and managing director of OWHIC. "It's not practical to fly our guests all over the country to view the best that U.S. healthcare has to offer, so instead we are bringing the best of U.S. healthcare to Tampa. You'd have to spend weeks and travel thousands of miles to get the experience we're providing over the course of a few days."

"This September, Tampa will be the epicenter of medical innovation," said Rick Homans, President and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation. "Hundreds of industry leaders will converge in our community to experience the future of healthcare at MediFuture, and with this carefully curated program of speakers, exhibits, and immersion tours, we're providing them with a unique forum to collaborate and escalate the pace of change."

In addition to the exhibits, MediFuture will include:

  • Perspectives from leaders across the industry, including keynote Dan Buettner, author of the <>New York Times bestseller Blue Zones, and several new additions to the agenda:
    • David Schlanger, CEO of WebMD, on quantified self and consumer engagement
    • Beth Bierbower, President, Group Segment of Humana, and Christine Lemke, Co-Founder and Head of Product of The Activity Exchange, in a panel moderated by InformationWeek Health Editor David Carr
    • Brenda Dietrich, IBM Fellow & VP Emerging Technologies, IBM Watson Group, on big data and enabling healthy living
    • Glen Tullman, Managing Partner & Founder, 7wire Ventures, on the new frontier in remote monitoring
  • Engagement with five Way to Wellville communities that are participating in a five-year challenge (sponsored by Esther Dyson's nonprofit HICCup) to improve health at the community level
  • Immersion tours of Tampa's most innovative organizations, including: Florida Blue Retail Center, the Laser Spine Institute, Moffitt Cancer Center's M2Gen, and the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation at the University of South Florida.
