Sharp's AQUOS Crystal smartphone has a beautiful screen [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sharp has introduced its latest AQUOS Crystal smartphones in Japan, with average specifications but the some of the best looks in recent memory, including the almost-bezel-free display.

Read about the Sharp AQUOS Crystal & Crystal X launch yesterday in Bahasa Malaysia Announced yesterday together with the AQUOS Crystal X, the aptly-named Crystal smartphone comes with a spectacular-looking 5-inch screen that stretches from one edge to the other, leaving hardly any bezel space and displaying amazing quality, despite having ‘only’ 720p resolution.

Sharp smartphones available in Malaysia   This perception is aided not only by the deep but vibrant colours afforded by the display, but also the high-gloss coating that cover the device and makes it sparkle. Unfortunately, this factor means it shines all the time, even in lower light scenarios which means there is always a glare  coming off the screen which of course makes it more irritating to look at sometimes.

While the Crystal X is the higher end of the two, with a large 5.5-inch, 1080 x 1920p display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 chip, and 2610mAh battery, it looks like the AQUOS Crystal is the one that will be made available in the US through service provider Sprint, with a mid-range 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor that is paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, compared to the Crystal X’s 2GB RAM and whopping 32GB of internal storage.

Nonetheless the AQUOS Crystal will retain the slick, sexy build quality of the higher end X, weighing only 140 grams despite being made primarily from plastic and sporting a nice dimpled back panel reminiscent of the original Google Nexus 7 tablet that featured hardware from Asus.

The Sharp AQUOS Crystal is due to hit the American market shortly after Japan, with no word yet when the rest of Asia and the world might be able to experience one of Sharp’s best-looking smartphones of all.
