HITRUST, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), announced today that its Monthly Cyber Threat Briefing will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM Central Time. This special briefing will be open to media and address a recent high-profile healthcare-related cybersecurity incident, featuring speakers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Who: Representatives of HITRUST, DHHS, DHS and FBI

What: Given this week's publicity around the announcement of a cyber-related incident at a large healthcare industry organization, the HITRUST and DHHS will include representatives from the DHS National Protection Program Directorate's Office of Cyber Security and Communications and FBI Cyber Division participating in the discussion of the technical indicators and observations of the recent event.

In addition to the discussio on the current threats, the briefing will also discuss industry concerns about delays in public-private threat intelligence sharing and recommendations for improving this process.
