India : AIRCEL launched its 4G services in TAMIL NADU and J&K, with lower price over rivals [TendersInfo (India)]
(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aircel Cellular, a division of Maxis, has made an announcement on the roll out of its 4G LTE services in the States of Tamil Nadu as well as Jammu and Kashmir.
The company s 4G services are also available in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Odisha.
Considering Aircel s latest move, it appears that Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecom arm of RIL, will be one of the last telecom firms to begin 4G in several circles in the country. Reliance Jio is the only company to have pan-India 4G LTE spectrum.
The launch has also facilitated Aircel to sit beside the India s No. 1 operator Bharti Airtel in the 4G sector of the nation. Nearly three years back, Airtel rolled out its 4G services in a limited way, offering the service in a few key Indian cities of Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune among others.
While Reliance Jio holds pan-India spectrum for 4G LTE, Airtel owns the same in eight circles. Despite this, Airtel has failed to expand the network in areas such as Kerala, Mumbai and Delhi as it is yet to secure nods for its acquisition of the licenses from Qualcomm.
But, it is expected that both Vodafone and Airtel will be able to switch on the 3G services on their recently acquired spectrum in late this year or early 2015. Reliance Jio will begin its services in the first half of 2015, around five years after its receipt of spectrum.
Aircel, the top telecom operator in Tamil Nadu, has stated that it now delivers 2G, 3G and 4G services in Tamil Nadu as well as Jammu and Kashmir.
The firm stated, Aircel s enterprise customers will experience a 4G LTE high-speed network to receive dedicated internet and secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) services whereas its Home customers will experience various infotainment services on high-speed broadband that will help connect any Wi-Fi device to support services such as faster internet access, Smart TVs, Virtual Home Solutions, Home Security, online gaming and much more.
Aircel s data tariff is normally less than its rival players, while the company s 3G data rates are almost 20% less than the prices of other operators.
