Cablecom to offer triple-play as standard [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]


(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Switzerland's largest cableco and second largest internet service provider (ISP) by subscribers UPC Cablecom has announced that from 1 January 2015 it will offer triple-play as standard, adding a telephony service as part of its basic offering, in addition to the existing TV and internet services. The upgraded package will offer users access to 65 TV channels – including 36 in high definition (HD) – 170 radio stations, a 2Mbps broadband connection, a telephone line with low rates, and access to two free smartphone apps, the first of which features 60 TV channels and a video-on-demand (VoD) library, whilst the second allows the user to make calls at fixed line rates. The new package will be priced at CHF29.95 (USD32.81) per month, representing an increase of CHF0.9.
