Latest Edition of Understanding Energy in Montana Released


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HELENA, Mont., Aug. 21 -- The Montana Department of Environmental Quality issued the following news release: The Energy and Telecommunications Interim Committee (ETIC) and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have just released a publication to assist policymakers and the public in learning about energy issues in Montana.



Understanding Energy in Montana is written and updated by DEQ's energy planning staff in cooperation with ETIC, the producer of the 124-page guide.

Last revised in 2010, the 2014 edition focuses on historic and current patterns of energy supply and demand while offering the best available statistics on energy production and consumption for all sectors. Chapters include the electricity system, the electric transmission system, natural gas, coal, and petroleum. Each sector includes information and maps about transmission systems, collection and distribution systems, and energy transportation issues.


New to the 2014 edition is a chapter on renewable energy development in Montana. A brief historical presentation for all sectors is also new to this most recent edition.
