University appoints influential business leader [Hull Daily Mail (England)]


(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HULL: The University of Hull has appointed influential business leader Dr David Richards as its provice-chancellor for research and enterprise.

Dr Richards had a highly successful career at BP, as well as holding the position of managing director of Vivergo Fuels in Hull.

He led the business to create one of the largest Bioethanol businesses in Europe.



Professor Calie Pistorius, vicechancellor at the University of Hull, said: "Dr Richards has extensive experience, in the UK and abroad, of managing and promoting research and enterprise and engaging with industry. "He is the perfect candidate to help us achieve our ambitions to become an internationally renowned centre of research excellence." Dr Richards said: "I am delighted to be joining the University of Hull at an important and exciting stage of its development." His appointment comes at a time when the university is investing significantly in research and enterprise.
