Stage Set for 32nd Annual Transamerica® Chicago Triathlon August 23-24th

--(Business Wire)--

Life Time Fitness, Inc. (NYSE:LTM):

WHAT:

Athletes:

More than 9,000 professional, amateur and youth triathletes will descend upon Chicago's lakefront on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th to compete in the 2014 Transamerica (News - Alert)® Chicago Triathlon, presented by Toyota and produced by Life Time - The Healthy Way of Life Company.

Course and Updates:

Sunday's main event includes an International and Sprint (News - Alert) distance, along with a relay component for teams of three. This year's triathlon features several course enhancements, including a new bike course for the International distance event, a new start sequence for Sunday's races, team challenge competitions, and a special Divvy bike wave at the SuperSprint event.

Purse:

Professional triathletes will battle for the event's $40,000 purse, with the top male and female taking home $8,500 each. Chicagoan Ben Collins is a strong contender to win the Professional division after wins at the Life Time Tri Minneapolis in July and the Panasonic (News - Alert) New York City Triathlon earlier this month.

Life Time Kids Tri:

In addition, Saturday's Life Time Kids Tri will host the largest event in its history with more than 1,100 children ages 7-14 breaking into the sport of triathlon, building confidence and encouraging healthy competition in a fun, safe environment. Awards will go to the top three boys and top three girls in each age group. The family friendly event will take place at Montrose Avenue Beach, along with Saturday's SuperSprint.

St. Jude:

As part of Tri weekend, Life Time has expanded its partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to Chicago. Individuals who have committed to raise funds through participating in "St. Jude's Heroes" help ensure families never receive a bill from the St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
