Signing Ceremony for New Beaver County Electric Transmission Line

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MILFORD, Utah, Aug. 22 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management's Utah State Office issued the following news release: On Aug. 25, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Cedar City Field Office, along with Beaver County and Rocky Mountain Power, will host a signing ceremony for the new Cameron to Milford energy transmission line. The event will begin promptly at 2 p.m. at the Milford City Office, 26 South 100 West, Milford, Utah.

Signing the documents will be Juan Palma, Bureau of Land Management State Director, and Richard Walje, President and CEO of Rocky Mountain Power, authorizing construction of the Cameron to Milford 138,000-volt Transmission Line on public lands in Beaver County. The single-circuit overhead transmission line, about 25 miles long, will be located between existing substations in Cameron and Milford. The line will increase electric power capacity and enhance service reliability to the Beaver County area. Currently, residents and businesses rely exclusively on a single 46,000-volt transmission system that lacks the capacity to meet growing demand for electricity in the area. The new line will also provide a back-up transmission line in the event of a disruption on the first line.

An Environmental Assessment analyzing impacts of the transmission line is available at: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/cedar_city.html.
