Surfline launches maiden 4G LTE network in Ghana [Ghana News Agency]

(Ghana News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Accra, Aug. 23, GNA - Surfline Communications Limited, has launched Ghana's first 4G LTE network conveying onto the market the fastest and reliable internet services expected to transform business and individual lives in the telecommunication sector.

The 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the largest single deployment of 4G LTE cell sites in Africa and developed with Alcatel-Lucent, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Tech Mahindra.

Mrs Rosy Fyn, Marketing Director of Surfline Communications, said the network is designed to relieve Ghanaians and businesses of perpetual interrupted data services.

She said the 4G LTE is the first of its kind in the Ghanaian market and offers quick data speed up to 10 times faster than the existing 3G networks.

"We are committed to providing Ghanaians with a super-fast and reliable internet experience as well as relevant value added services and data solutions comparable to what pertains in other parts of the world," she said.

She said the 4G LTE network loads websites faster; sends and receives large documents with ease; downloads music and movies swiftly and enables one to watch videos online with no waiting time.

Families, business associates and schools would be able to use Skype and video conferencing facilities with no interruption and upload photos to social media profiles instantly, a deviation from the traditional networks, she added.

Mrs Fynn noted that less than 20 per cent of Ghanaians currently use the internet due to varied reasons, but the company represents an opportunity to inspire businesses, families and students to embrace the internet and experience much more because of its affordability and flexibility.

She said the services are available in Accra and Tema, "but there are aggressive growth plan to move into the rest of Ghana and achieve nationwide coverage", to reach every home and school community.

Dr Yaw Akoto, Chief Executive of Surfline Limited, observed: "Ghanaians are disillusioned with the internet services that are currently on offer, because they have not experienced what was promised." He said: "As Ghanaians ourselves we believe that people living and working in Ghana deserve the best, across the world people are enjoying super-fast internet speeds powered by 4G LTE and Surfline is proud to bring this into Ghana for the first time for Ghanaians to experience the difference this brings." Dr Akoto assured customers of continual services, saying:" "Surfline's 4G LTE service has been created with a single-minded focus on data, which means our network quality will not be compromised." Surfline Communications Limited is the first mobile telecoms operator to pioneer an LTE network in Ghana.

The company is also the only telecoms operator 100 per cent owned by Ghanaians.

Surfline was established in Ghana in 2011 and provides Ghana's fastest mobile internet service to consumers and businesses in the Greater Accra Region.
