Susan H. Rodger Named Recipient of the 2013 ACM Karl V. Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award

Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award. The award recognizes excellence for outstanding technical and professional achievements and contributions in computer science and information technology.



The award is presented annually to an outstanding educator who is appointed to a recognized educational baccalaureate institution. The educator is recognized for advancing new teaching methodologies, or effecting new curriculum development or expansion in Computer Science and Engineering; or making a significant contribution to the educational mission of the ACM. Financial support for the award is provided by Pearson, and a prize of $5,000 was awarded to Rodger on June 21, 2014.

Pearson's Managing Director of Arts, Science, Business and Engineering, Higher Education, Paul Corey, said, "We congratulate Susan H. Rodger for her remarkable contributions to computer science education. Pearson is committed to helping institutions and educators improve learner outcomes and achieve measurable results that promote long-term success in this vitally important STEM field." Rodger is a professor of the practice of computer science at Duke University. Currently chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE), she is a member of the ACM Education Policy Committee.
