Strayer University Serves as Official Higher Education Sponsor of 3rd Annual "Festival PEOPLE en Español"HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Strayer University, a leading postsecondary institution for working adults, is pleased to announce it will be the official higher education sponsor of the 3rd Annual "Festival PEOPLE en Español," one of the largest and most anticipated celebrations of Hispanic entertainment, culture and community. This year's event, which features Latino celebrities and newsmakers, as well as inspirational and interactive activities for all ages, will take place in San Antonio, Texas August 30-31. In a recent study by the Pew (News - Alert) Research Center, U.S. Latinos ranked education as an extremely important issue, considering it instrumental in the development of all communities. As the festival's official education sponsor, Strayer University aims to raise awareness about the multiple paths to and definitions of success, as well as the role that higher education plays in attaining that success. Strayer University recently launched the Success Project, a year-long initiative aimed at breaking down perceived barriers that can keep individuals from succeeding in their personal and professional lives. The initiative enhances support for working adults pursuing a college degree through a new Success Coach program, whereby all Strayer University students are assigned a personal success coach, who will assist them with financial advice, goal setting, career advice, and other skills. Activities also include a national partnership with entertainer and author Steve Harvey, a four-part video series with inspirational YouTube (News - Alert) channel SoulPancake, and a local success-focused roadshow, among others. "It is more important than ever before to raise a national conversation about the meaning and pursuit of success," said Dr. Michael Plater, president of Strayer University. "Working adults who decide that education will help them to attain success in their lives may also be balancing the demands of work and family while earning a college degree. We want to help those individuals eliminate any doubts or fears they may have about going back to school and know that they will be supported in their academic journey through our Success Coach program." During "Festival PEOPLE en Espaol," Strayer University will lead a series of activities to inspire and empower participants to become successful leaders in their workplace, home and community:
