Jabra Step Wireless Bluetooth Headset Review [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jabra has pioneered in engineering out-of-the-box Bluetooth devices and their Step Wireless is no exception. Designed for people-on-the-move, the Step Wireless is a revolutionary new earbuds from the company.

Packaged neatly, contents found with the Step Wireless are pretty much what I expected. You get three sets of EarGels (S, M, and L), one set of detachable GelHooks, a foot long USB cable for charging and a very handy quick setup guide. A flexible two-foot long cord connects the two earbuds and sits well on back of the neck. Also included is their "Get Started in Under 5 Minutes" booklet to get you up and running in, well, under 5 minutes.

Jabra's Step Wireless is an elegantly designed set of earbuds – lightweight and stylish. Weighing in at under 17 grams its presence will be hardly felt when in use. The right earbud houses the micro-USB connector and charging/streaming LED. The port and LED is so well incorporated in the earbud that it's almost invisible. To highlight the earbud's state of operation, the LED flashes two colors – red and blue. It turns static red during charging and blue once charged. When discovering devices, both LEDs blink together and finally, it turns static blue when paired.

The Step Wireless Bluetooth headset is Bluetooth 4.0 compliant and supports most Bluetooth profiles. It operates within the range of 10 meters (standard for a Bluetooth device) and can pair with a maximum of eight devices of which two to be used at the same time. To eliminate the confusion, Jabra has clearly marked R and L on the earbuds – a standard they follow with all their headsets. Jabra has also made sure Step Wireless is dust and water resistant making it ideal for use during workouts and taking calls on-the-go The earbuds rests intact in the ear, no matter how you use it – workout, dance or drive – I could not hey them to fall-out. The detachable GelHooks are flexible and fit well on the ear torso. However, prolonged use can cause discomfort. With the in-line controller, managing the phone calls during music play is fairly easy. It is also home for the microphone. You're greeted with a  "Hello" and "Goodbye" when switch the device On and Off..

Jabra claims Step Wireless can play four hours of continuous music plus talk time with one full battery charge and a standby time of six days. The approximate charge time as per the manual is 2.5 hours, though the online manual says 30 minutes less. To test, I set my music to continuously loop after full charge and was pleasantly surprised with the result as the battery lasted for a good 4 hours and 38 minutes- more than half-an-hour of its claimed timing.

Even though the earbuds are small, they are powerful enough to generate high frequency audio. Listening to music is a breeze with crisp and clear sound. The voice clarity during phone calls is good too. Impressive enough, the noise bleeding is next to zero when listening to music even at the max level. However, I did notice a little signal issue and lag when moving away from the parent device, specifically my notebook.

The Step Wireless wears a price tag of $69.99, which is a decent bargain for the earbuds of this caliber. Jabra is known for their quality products and their prices are usually on the higher side when compared to the similar class offerings from competition.

With power packed features, crystal clear performance and an affordable price tag the Step Wireless is surely a step forward in the in-ear wireless headsets arena. More importantly, Jabra also offers one-year limited warranty with the Step Wireless keeping your woes away if something goes wrong with the earbuds.
