Fortum Foundation's scholarships total over half a million euros


(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 02 September 2014 Release date- 29082014 - Fortum Foundation's 2014 scholarship distribution ceremony was held on 27 August 2014.

At the event, 42 new scholarships totalling 529, 185 euros were awarded.

According to President and CEO Tapio Kuula, Fortum Foundation's Board of Directors was particularly pleased with the calibre of the scholarship applications. The Foundation will continue its significant research into sustainable energy solutions. In 2015 the Foundation will collaborate with the University of Cambridge to develop international activities, and the Foundation will establish the EPRG Cambridge Fellow scholarship that can be applied. Cambridge's Energy Policy Research Group is one of the world's leading research groups in energy policy and energy economics.



At the ceremony, Esa Harmala, Director-General, Energy Department, Ministry of Employment and the Economy, gave a presentation about Finland's energy and climate roadmap, Neste Oil's Lars-Peter Lindfors, Senior Vice President, Technology, provided insight about the future of the oil sector, Heli Antila, Fortum's Chief Technology Officer, talked about the future outlook of the electricity and heat sectors, and Christian Breyer, Professor at Lappeenranta University of Technology, gave a presentation about society's transformation towards a solar economy.
