WOODLAND PARK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--

Jared Fogle, "The SUBWAY Guy," will serve as Master of Ceremonies of the 4 Miler at Garret Mountain, sponsored by accounting firm SaxBST Saturday, September 6. The long-time healthy eating advocate and runner will serve as the official starter of the third annual event to benefit the Child Life Department at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Paterson, N.J.

"Not only is Mr. Fogle's personal weight loss and exercise story inspirational, his efforts to combat childhood obesity through his foundation align with SaxBST's mission to help children live happier, healthier lives," said Robert Paz, SaxBST co-managing partner. "We are grateful he is joining us at the Third Annual 4 Miler as our master of ceremonies, helping our runners and walkers get off on the right foot."

SUBWAY also is donating 500 sandwiches for participants of the 4-mile run, 1.5-mile trail walk and kids' dashes. The challenging and scenic course is USA Track and Field (USATF) certified, offering a mix of both hilly and flat surfaces, with mile clocks and water stops. All proceeds from this event support the Child Life Department, which provides vital programs to relieve the stress and anxiety associated with inpatient hospitalization, outpatient ambulatory procedures and treatments.

The 568-acre recreational Garret Mountain Reservation, an area landmark, is located at 288 Rifle Camp Road in Woodland Park, N.J. Race day entertainment includes a DJ, prize drawings, children's activities and post-race refreshments. Custom technical t-shirts will be provided to participants while supplies last.

The 4-mile run will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a trail walk at 9:10 a.m. and kids' dashes at 10:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female winners, as well as to winners in the 4 Miler age groups. All participating youngsters will receive finishing ribbons.

Founded in 2012 by one of SaxBST's predecessor firms, Sax Macy Fromm & Co., the 4 Miler at Garret Mountain raised $43,000 in its inaugural year for St. Joseph's Children's Hospital's Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department. In 2013, participation grew to more than 400 runners and walkers, and 40 business and individual sponsors, raising $62,000 for the hospital's Child Life Department.

Registration is $25. To register, visit www.raceforum.com/garret.
