Mahwah-based retailer names executive [The Record (Hackensack, N.J.) :: ](Record (Hackensack, NJ) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 10--MAHWAH _ Specialty retailer Ascena Retail Group Inc. announced Tuesday the appointment of Ernest LaPorte as senior vice president and chief accounting officer. In this role, LaPorte will oversee the company's accounting, financial reporting and accounting shared service functions, according to a news release. LaPorte was most recently senior vice president, controller, at Saks Inc. for seven years. LaPorte also has finance and accounting experience from working at Movado Group Inc. in Paramus, Barnes & Noble and General Electric. He also is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. "I look forward to leveraging my prior experience in helping the Ascena team build upon its positive momentum," LaPorte said in a news release. Mahwah-based Ascena is a specialty retailer that offers clothing, shoes and accessories under brands that include Lane Bryant, Cacique, Maurices, Dressbarn, Catherine, Justice and Brothers.
