C/Ivoire launches Qelasy tablet computer [Agence de Presse Africaine]


(Agence de Presse Africaine Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A Made-in-Cote d'Ivoire tablet computer known as Qelasy has been launched in the commercial capital Abidjan.The computer invented by 36 year old Ivorian Thierry N'douffou was officially launched on Friday in the presence of the Minister of Postal and Information-Communication Technologies, Bruno Nabagne and students inside the lecture hall of the Felix Houphouet-Boigny University. The inventor of the 16 GO instructive storage tablet computer has been working on it for two years.



“Our ambition is to succeed in computerizing all the educational system in a bid to make our system more efficient†, N'douffou told APA while pointing out his intention to contribute to the training of his country's citizens. “A nation that wants to emerge and develop must have a well-educated and well-informed population†, the inventor said, adding that Qelasy was conceived in the image of a digital schoolbag enabling the learner to revise at any place and time. “We have been enjoying the support of the government all along the way especially when we made the trip to Barcelona, Spain to showcase to the world what we can do,†N'douffou said. “It was a huge pleasure for me to witness the launch of Qelasy in Barcelona†, Minister Kone declared, describing Qelasy as an Ivorian invention and an African innovation with a great added value rich in content for students and teachers. Assembled in China the Qelasy tablet computer will be sold for CFA180,000 ($360).
