Funding Available for Manufacturing Extension Partnership Centers Program(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) by VARALAKSHMI PULUGURTHA Targeted News Service WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 -- The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology has announced that it expects to award a maximum of 10 discretionary cooperative agreement grants to provide manufacturing extension services to primarily small and medium-sized manufacturers within the state designated in the applications. There is no award amount specified for this funding opportunity. This funding opportunity is open to state, local or tribal governments; state universities and technical colleges; and non-profit organizations. A funding opportunity notice from the NIST states: "Each MEP [Manufacturing Extension Partnership] Center works directly with area manufacturers to provide expertise and services tailored to their most critical needs, ranging from process improvement and workforce development to business practices and technology transfer. Additionally, MEP Centers connect manufacturers with government and trade associations, universities and research laboratories and a host of other public and private resources to help them realize individual business goals. Through local and national resources, MEP Centers have helped thousands of manufacturers reinvent themselves, increase profits, create jobs and establish a foundation for long-term business growth and productivity." The funding opportunity number is 2014-NIST-MEP-01 (CFDA 11.611). The application closing date is Oct. 15.
