Schools Could Win Up To $10,000 in the Great American School Spectacular

CINCINNATI --(Business Wire)--

This fall, Great American Insurance Group will help teachers enhance their school and classrooms with the seventh annual Great American School Spectacular. Teachers can win thousands of dollars for their school and classrooms through a simple online submission process.

Last year's grand prize winner, Kelli Benner of DeLand-Weldon Elementary School in Weldon, IL, used the prize money to create a weather center for the school's K-8 student base.

"Upon entering the contest last year, I never would have imagined that I could be a finalist, let alone the grand prize winner," says Benner. "We are a very small community, and winning was the opportunity of a lifetime! The students of DeLand-Weldon have gained access to new materials, resources, technology and incredible learning opportunities that wouldn't have been possible without the Great American School Spectacular."

Consistent with last year's contest, this year's winning classroom will receive $5,000 plus a matching $5,000 prize for the school. Second place is $2,500 for the classroom, $2,500 for the school; third place is $1,000 for the classroom, $1,000 for the school.

According to Mat Dutkiewicz, Executive Vice President, 403(b) & Education Market Division, the Great American School Spectacular is one way that Great Americans Annuity Group supports educators. "Teachers help their students in countless ways each and every day," he notes. "Great American Insurance Group is honored to give back to these dedicated classroom heroes."

To enter, teachers simply need to write a few sentences about why their school is spectacular, and what the prize money would do to enhance learning, engagement and creativity in the classroom. Entries will be accepted online at www.TeachersDeserveTheBest.com through November 21, 2014 and finalists will be notified in December 2014. The finalists' entries will be posted in January 2015 and an online public vote will decide who is most deserving of the top three prizes.
