India : BSNL, Micromax associates to drive data usage in India [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Micromax, India's second biggest samrtphone player, associated with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to drive data growth in the country.

Micromax and BSNL under this partnership will expand unique reverse bundling handset offers of free data usage of up to 2GB per quarter to the Indian consumers.

Six Micromax devices under the partnership agreement will be bundled with the BSNL offers - X070, X088, P410i, MMX377G, A37 and A37B.

Vineet Taneja, chief executive officer at Micromax, said that the partnership will enable millions of Indian consumers to enjoy "seamless connectivity through data usage, affordable call rates and other VAS services." Taneja added, "This partnership will further provide a major boost to better connectivity and internet adoption as BSNL's pan-India network coupled with our innovative devices, backed by a strong channel and retail presence which will take these offerings across length and breadth of the country .



BSNL will offer 2GB data and 500 minutes free voice calls per quarter for 12 months to Micromax customers. In order to avail these benefits, a customer will need to get a plan voucher of Rs. 153, which will come with 12 months' validity.

A. N. Rai, chairman and managing director, BSNL said, "BSNL has already provided 3G coverage in more than 2300 cities and towns of India and is committed to provide 3G coverage to additional towns .


BSNL has similar associations with players like Champion Computers and Pantel Technologies.
