United States : MICROFOCUS starts proceedings to merge with ATTACHMATE GROUP [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mainframe software provider Micro Focus has launched proceedings to integrate with Attachmate Group, owners of Novell and Suse Linux, for nearly $1.2 billion, in a deal that will bring a lot of infrastructure software under a single roof.

Taking time and resources, data consolidation is often underestimated and poorly executed.

Micro Focus expects the merged entity to have annual revenue of $1.4 billion, with over 4,500 workers and more than 30,000 customers.

According to Micro Focus executive chairman, Kevin Loosemore, an integration of the companies makes sense as both are established business software vendors with global marketing reach and little overlap in either products or customers.

Attachmate acquired business software provider Novell in 2011 for $2.2 billion.
