Grupo Gallegos, Alzheimer's Association Honored With CLIO Award in Design

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/19/14 -- Grupo Gallegos, a creatively driven independent advertising agency, was honored at the 2014 CLIO Awards for its work with the Alzheimer's Association, the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The CLIO Awards are the most recognized international awards competition for advertising, design, digital and communication. The agency was awarded a Bronze CLIO for "Grandson," "Husband," and "Daughter" in the Design category.

"Grandson," "Husband," and "Daughter" are part of the "Alzheimer's Gallery" campaign, an awareness-focused effort produced on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association, California Southland chapter. The idea behind the campaign was to dramatize a visual symbol of the tragic impact of Alzheimer's by placing the viewer in the shoes of someone suffering from the disease. The images in the campaign, large-scale portraits titled "Daughter," "Husband," "Grandson," are distorted, hazy, garbled and heartbreaking tributes to the loved ones of those with Alzheimer's.

"At our core, Grupo Gallegos is committed to producing great work for our clients," said Marty Orzio, Chief Creative Officer. "To be able to support an important organization like the Alzheimer's Association and produce work that will so artfully increase awareness for their cause is extremely rewarding for us." The campaign was also recognized at the Cannes International Festival for Creativity earlier this year, earning a Bronze Lion in Design and shortlisted in Outdoor. A previous campaign for the Alzheimer's Association, "Forgot your Password," won a Bronze Lion in the Media category in 2012.

Commenting on the news, John Gallegos stated, "We are extremely honored by the recognition this campaign continues to earn. We've worked with the Alzheimer's Association for several years and we couldn't have produced the award-winning work that we have without their willingness to challenge convention." Grupo Gallegos continues to support the California Southland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association with a new awareness and donation-driving campaign launching this Fall.
