F-Ring road to open in two months [Peninsula, The (Qatar)]

(Peninsula, The (Qatar) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DOHA: Construction of F-Ring road will be completed on schedule and it will open in two months, officials from the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) have said.

Companies working on the road project have doubled their efforts in order to complete the last phase of the project on time, reported Arabic daily Al Watan.

According to Ashghal, the road project is being implemented at a cost of QR837m. The 8.7km road will have three to four lanes on each side and will link south Doha to Hamad International Airport, connect Mesaimeer Street and the main road leading to Al Wakra.

The F-ring road infrastructure project includes installing traffic signals at all intersections, and putting in place a network of rainwater drains, sewage pipes and three pumping stations, two stations for weighing vehicles, power transmission lines, telecommunication facilities, civil defence posts, streetlights and smart transport systems.

The contractors are in the process of constructing drainage and sewage networks as a new wastewater treatment facility is being built. Standard and modern gas and oil pipeline protection facilities would be provided too.

The F-ring road will link other new road projects scheduled to be started in future, such as the Al Wakra parallel road, which is to be constructed west of Al Wakra city. The 11km-long Al Wakra parallel road will have five lanes on each side and will link to several other roads connecting the southern and northern districts.
