Safety Net sells part of portfolio [The Record-Eagle, Traverse City, Mich.](Record-Eagle, The (Traverse City, MI) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 22--TRAVERSE CITY -- Safety Net, a local technology management company, sold its portfolio of restaurant clients to Toledo-based Rumpf Computer Solutions. Rumpf purchased Safety Net's list of restaurant point of sale customers, or those that relied on the information technology company to manage their transaction software. "It all has to do with our business evolving," said Safety Net Client Services and Communications Manager Shannon Wilcox. "One of the first lines of business we offered was point of sale, and now we've evolved more into providing corporate IT services." The company will instead focus on clients in the manufacturing, financial and healthcare industries. Chateau Chantal relies on Safety Net to manage the winery's technology needs. Operations Manager Liz Berger said contracting with the company saves the winery from having to hire an IT specialist. The winery can reach out to Safety Net specialists for help with hardware purchases, virus protection or cash register troubleshooting. Someone from Safety Net even comes to the winery to vacuum its computers. "This is an area where things change, and by contracting with them we have access to people who are experts in their niches within the computer technology we use," Berger said. Wilcox said Safety Net chose to sell its portfolio to Rumpf because the companies use the same software and had worked together before. Safety Net's former restaurant clients may choose not to contract with Rumpf. Safety Net has 25 employees between its Traverse City headquarters and Brighton office.
