HTC still takes the crown in homeland


(Taiwan News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Taiwan's HTC Corp. (2498) took the crown in homeland smartphone sales and volume for August for a fourth straight month, according to a research report. The report also revealed that August smartphone sales declined 3.5 percent monthovermonth to 687,000 units and fell short of expectation as consumers are holding back for new flagship phones by international brands such as the Apple iPhone 6, Samsung Note 4, and Sony Z3 which are not yet available in the Taiwan market.



In terms of market share, HTC accounted for 22 percent of total August smartphone sales, surpassing ASUS's 16 percent and Samsung's 15 percent. In terms of sales, HTC accounted for 25 percent, followed by Samsung's 19 percent and Sony's 14 percent. In the top 10 bestselling phone list, four models are manufactured by HTC, including the Desire 816, M8, Desire 610, and One E8.
