Second top Synacor executive leaving [The Buffalo News, N.Y.]

(Buffalo News (NY) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 23--Scott Bailey, Synacor Inc.'s chief operations officer, plans to leave his post as one of the Buffalo Internet content provider's top-ranking executives at the end of this month, the company said Tuesday.

Bailey, who has worked at Synacor since the fall of 2010, is the second of Synacor's top executives to leave the company this summer, with his departure coming on the heels of CEO Ronald Frankel's resignation in August.

Synacor said Bailey "will be leaving to pursue other interests." His departure comes less than two months after Synacor hired former Comcast executive Himesh Bhise as Frankel's replacement as CEO.

Bailey, who held positions with Comcast Interactive Media and Turner Broadcasting before joining Synacor, was responsible for managing the daily operations and strategy for the sales and advertising, information technology and human resources departments, according to Synacor's website.

"Bailey is a respected executive who has played a significant role advancing the business, building new products and helping transition Synacor from a private to public company," the company said in a statement.

Bailey's resignation also comes at a time when the company is under fire from a pair of disgruntled investors who own a collective stake of 9.8 percent in the company. The investors have criticized Synacor's current business strategy and want the company to be put up for sale.
