Southern California Permanente Medical Group Named a Top Performer by Integrated Healthcare Association

PASADENA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

The Southern California Permanente Medical Group has been recognized by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) as a "Top Performing Provider Group" in California for the ninth consecutive year. The recognition is based on high overall scores for clinical performance, chronic care management, member satisfaction, and meaningful use of health information technology.

The Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) has 6,035 partner physicians and provides medical care to 3.7 million Kaiser Permanente members from Kern to San Diego County. The "Top Performing Provider Group" award winners represent the top 25 percent of nearly 200 participating physician groups statewide. Those recognized include: Baldwin Park, Downey, Fontana/Ontario, Kern County, Los Angeles, Orange County (Anaheim/Irvine), Panorama City/Antelope Valley, Riverside/Moreno Valley, San Diego, South Bay, and West Los Angeles.

"At SCPMG, we care deeply about our patients' health," said Edward M. Ellison, MD, executive medical director of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. "We are very pleased to receive this recognition from IHA for the ninth year in a row. Our culture of prevention and partnership--listening to patients and working with them to achieve total health -- helps us deliver better outcomes. Sophisticated and innovative screening systems catch disease early and save lives. We congratulate our highly skilled, compassionate physicians and staff on the receipt of this well-deserved award."

Members at Kaiser Permanente are kept healthier by a unique, systems-based Complete Care model, which brings together the power of electronic health records and the care management outreach approach. Complete Care means staying in touch with patients to manage chronic conditions and includes the practice of Proactive Office Encounters. This practice engages the entire health care team at each patient encounter to address patient needs and make sure all preventive screenings are up to date.
