SEPA board to mark rail loop completion [The Jamestown Sun, N.D.]

(Jamestown Sun, The (ND) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 24--The Spiritwood Energy Park Association Board of Directors will commemorate the completion of the SEPA rail loop with a spike-driving ceremony in October.

Richard Garman Jr., project manager, said the rail loop project is 90 percent complete and should be substantially complete within three weeks. The loop is a $10 million joint project of Great River Energy and the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. to provide rail access to the Dakota Spirit AgEnergy ethanol plant and future industrial projects in the 400-acre Spiritwood Energy Park.

Greg Ridderbusch, a SEPA Board member, said he has a golden spike that could be used for the ceremony.

"I think it (this project) is a huge investment by the community," he said. "We should do (celebrate) it." Garman said the biggest remaining work on the project is installing a switch that connects the loop to the main rail line. This work will be done by BNSF later this fall.

Connie Ova, CEO of JSDC, and Garman will determine the date for the spike-driving ceremony.

In other business, Ova said officials from an international company made a site visit to the SEPA property. She said the company is interested in building a biomass pulping plant. Ova said the company is interested in buying property rather than leasing. She said the SEPA Board may consider selling property in SEPA on a case-by-case basis.
