GNS Healthcare Adds to Board [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GNS Healthcare (GNS) has appointed Dr. Jan Berger to its board of directors.

According to a release from the company, Berger, who served CVS Caremark as chief clinical officer for nearly 10 years, is a professional in medication adherence and value-based health care.

GNS said she is currently president and CEO of Health Intelligence Partners, a consultancy providing business strategies and solutions to clients across the care continuum.

"Jan's life's work aligns directly with our company's mission, and we welcome her to our board during a period of tremendous growth for GNS," said Colin Hill, CEO and co-founder of GNS. "We recently launched the Meaningful Adherence solution to help health plans optimize medication adherence interventions, and in June, a study based on our work with Aetna to predict individuals' risks of developing metabolic syndrome was published by The American Journal of Managed Care. Jan's expertise, as well as her extensive operational and business development experience, will be of great value to GNS as we take the personalization of health care to the next level." During her tenure at CVS Caremark, Berger led a range of programs in support of good medication practices. In that role, Berger became one of the first managed care executives to research, champion and address medication adherence, advocating for the value of drug therapies and adherence as a long-term strategy to improve health and contain spending. She was also a member of the management team that led CVS Caremark through a series of mergers and acquisitions, resulting in an $80 billion Fortune 20 company.

GNS Healthcare is a big data analytics company.
