Ramapo College Announces CompTIA and CISCO Certification Programs

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 26 -- Ramapo College issued the following news release: Ramapo College of New Jersey, in affiliation with Netcom Learning of NYC, a leader in computer and IT training, announces new certification offerings in CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+, and Cisco CCENT and Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification. A rolling schedule of evening classes begins on September 29 on the Ramapo College campus.

Those new to the IT field begin with the CompTIA A+ Certification, the industry standard that demonstrates competency as a computer technician. The program prepares participants for the CompTIA A+ certification exam. The exam proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting in numerous technologies and operating systems from vendors such as Microsoft, Apple Inc., Novell and some Linux variations.

The CompTIA Network+ Certification is also an international industry credential. It validates the knowledge of networking professionals in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure. In this program, participants learn the fundamentals of networking and are prepared for the Network+ certification exam. Through hands-on training and exercises, participants learn the vendor-independent skills and concepts necessary for all networking professionals.

Once IT students have earned the foundational CompTIA certifications, they may wish to pursue Cisco certifications such as the Cisco CCENT and CCNA. The programs offered at Ramapo College prepare participants to take these certification exams scheduled and offered through numerous authorized testing center venues that are easily accessible in the college's area community.

Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) Certification validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, a network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions - the starting point for many successful careers in networking. The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium-size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching is a certification program for entry-level network engineers that validate the ability to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. This certification helps maximize a student's investment in foundational networking knowledge and increases the value of an employer's network. CCNA Routing and Switching is for students who have earned certification in CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ or for network specialists, network administrators and network support engineers with 1-3 years of experience.
