WCSU Marketing Club to Host 'Marketing Week'


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DANBURY, Conn., Sept. 26 -- Western Connecticut State University issued the following news release: The Western Connecticut State University Marketing Club, an award-winning student chapter of the American Marketing Association, will host a series of events from Monday, Oct. 6, through Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, to call attention to the marketing profession and the opportunities available to those interested in pursuing a career in the field. All of the listed events will be on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. They will be free and open to the public.



Entrepreneur Bill Imada will present a lecture at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, in Room 218 of the Westside Classroom Building. Imada is founder, chairman and chief collaboration officer of IW Group, a minority-owned and operated agency focusing on growing multicultural markets.

The third annual "Your Big Idea" Competition will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, in Room 218 of the Westside Classroom Building. The purpose of the competition is to inspire students to think creatively and develop innovation talents and entrepreneurship skills. Semi-finalists will present their ideas to the judges and the audience. The winner will receive $500. Only WCSU students may enter the competition, but the public is welcome to watch the event. A Brand Challenge Workshop will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Room 212 of the Westside Campus Center. Western mascot "Colonial Chuck" will be the source of inspiration as student groups develop a history and future goals for the character. The workshop will provide insight into how brand imaging is developed. Only WCSU students may participate in the workshop, but the public is welcome to observe.

A panel comprised of individuals who have graduated from Western's Ancell School of Business will be in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The alumni will share stories about their lives after graduating from Western and will network with attendees.

Thursday, Oct. 9, will feature a lecture at 5:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom by WCSU alumnus Michael Carpanzano, inventor of NuPlug. Carpanzano will discuss entrepreneurship and his success in starting a business through the use of Kickstarter.
