Napa County election division has temporary home [Times-Herald, Vallejo, Calif.]

(Times-Herald (Vallejo, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 30--NAPA -- Because of the recent earthquake, the Napa County Election Division moved its public service location for the Nov. 4 General Election to 2751 Napa Valley Corporate Drive, Building 4, in Napa, county officials announced.

The relocation was necessary because the former location at 900 Coombs St. was damaged by the Aug. 24 South Napa earthquake, they said.

"Thanks to cooperation from Napa County Public Works, Napa County Information Technology Services and our own dedicated staff, we are ready to accommodate Napa County voters at our temporary location beginning Oct. 6," Napa County Registrar of Voters John Tuteur said. "Voters who wish to register to vote in person, vote by mail voters who may need to replace a lost or damaged ballot, candidates and their staff and the media can find services at the temporary location." Vote-by-mail ballots and sample ballots will arrive in mailboxes the week of Oct. 6, Tuteur said.

California Voter Information Guides were mailed Sept. 19 to every Napa County household where a voter was registered as of Sept. 5, he said.

Added and supplemental guides will be mailed over the coming weeks, he said.

Any eligible voter who believes they are registered to vote and has not received one of these election materials by Oct. 14, should contact the Election Division at (707) 253-4322 or visit [email protected] or www.countyofnapa.org/Elections/.

Voters can check the status of their ballot, the location of their polling place and polling place voters who wish to apply for a vote by mail ballot may do so beginning Oct. 6, at secure.countyofnapa.org/VoterInfo/.

"None of our 13 polling places were damaged in the earthquake, and will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 4, Election Day," Tuteur said. Vote by mail assistance centers will open in each municipality and at the temporary office Nov. 1 through Election Day.

The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 4 General Election is Oct. 20. Registration forms must be postmarked that date or voters can register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov until 11:59 p.m. that day.

For information or comments, contact John Tuteur at 707-253-4459 or [email protected].
