3M Releases New VHB™ Thin Foam Tapes as the Ultimate Electronics Bonding Solution(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Westminster, Maryland (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 3M has added four new thin VHB products to their portfolio of acrylic very high bond tapes. 3M 5906, 3M 5907, 3M 5908, and 3M 5909 are conformable VHBs which help create the strongest bond possible to a wide range of substrates. These acrylic foam tapes are used for bonding to difficult surfaces such as paints, low surface energy plastics, and metals. 3M VHBs 5906, 5907, 5908, and 5905 are designed specifically for electronic device engineers and electronics manufacturers. These thin VHBs can fit into electronic assemblies where other thicker VHBs cannot. Previously the thinnest VHB acrylic foam tape in 3M's portfolio was 0.015/0.016 inches (0.4mm). Now the thinnest VHB is 3M 5906 at 0.006 inches (0.15mm) thick. 3M 5907 is 0.008 inches (0.20mm) thick, 3M 5908 is 0.010 inches (0.25mm) thick, and 3M 5909 is 0.012 inches (0.30mm) thick. These VHBs also absorb high dynamic stress and shock, the same forces a device experiences when being dropped on the ground. Other features include: excellent conformability, minimal bond line, vibration damping, and chemical and moisture resistance to create long lasting bonds in harsh and demanding environments.
