France-IX and Interxion Extend Partnership to Marseille

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Paris, France (PRWEB UK) 1 October 2014 In late August Interxion acquired the SFR Netcenter datacenter in Marseille, renamed MRS1. This acquisition strengthens the partnership between the European datacenter provider and the Internet exchange point France-IX, which has been located at this site since 2012. Both companies plan to join forces to position Marseille as a prime interconnection site between European telcos and operators from Africa, Asia and the Middle-East.

« Marseille is ideally located », said Franck Simon, France-IX Managing Director. « It hosts the landing station of several submarine cables serving East Africa, Middle-East and Asia. We are pleased to see Interxion, which already houses our equipment in three of their sites in the Paris region, focusing on Marseille as we do ».

« We have been supporting the European exchange points since 1999 », said Fabrice Coquio, Interxion France Managing Director. « We house 20 of them in 11 different countries. In Marseille, France-IX has been able to convince French-language and English-language content providers to connect in order to reach African operators. With the expansion of the MRS1 site, we will be able to meet the growing needs of these operators in terms of equipment housing, connectivity and access to peering services ».

Interxion is also launching a special promotion, available from the 1st October 2014 to the 31st December 2014: For any new connection to France-IX via MRS1, Interxion will offer cabinet power free for one month, free set up and three free months rental of a cross connect to the Internet exchange point and finally 2 free hours of Hands & Eyes service where there is the need to move a cabinet to a new location. To understand more or to take up this offer, please contact Interxion at fr.info(at)interxion(dot)com.
