BRIEF: Bremerton Symphony director takes chamber job [Kitsap Sun, Bremerton, Wash.]

(Kitsap Sun (Bremerton, WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 01--BREMERTON -- Bremerton Symphony Association Executive Director Gena Wales has been tapped to run the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce.

Wales, 54, was the top choice of the chamber's board of directors, said Annetta Knight, incoming board chairwoman.

"I think she's going to be a real asset to the chamber and bring a fresh perspective," Knight said.

Wales, a Bremerton native, has been with the symphony for nine years, including six as its director.

"It's exciting," Wales said of getting the job. "It's a new opportunity for me in the community." She replaces Michael Strube, who resigned in September to take a job with Dex Media in Silverdale. Knight will run the office until Wales comes on board in November.
