(Mid-East.Info Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DUBAI, UAE: PRNewswire: The event will be held under the patronage of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of UAE Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Council MENA announces the launch of its 6th annual conference in the UAE under the theme of ‘FTTH – The Rise of Smart Nation’. The FTTH MENA conference will be held under the patronage of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) on 24 – 25 November 2014 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

H.E. Majed AlMesmar, Deputy Director General of TRA, commented, “Consistent advancements in the UAE’s ICT sector are a surefire indication that UAE, is without a doubt set to become the Middle East’s token smart nation. The nation’s leadership vision, combined with the advanced infrastructure, will enhance the productivity and environment of both businesses and consumers. The presence of well-developed infrastructure with modern technology will contribute to the creation of a digital society and knowledge-based economic capable of putting our young nation in the leading positions.” “We are very excited this year to hold our annual 6th edition FTTH Council MENA conference in Dubai. We look forward to transform MENA region’s ICT sector with smart initiatives for infrastructure and e-services,” said Dr. Suleiman Al-Hedaithy, Chairman at FTTH Council MENA. “The FTTH council is honored with TRA’s Patronage and support, which will indeed emphasize the UAE flagship role in FTTH deployments.” According to a 2013 study conducted by FTTH Council MENA, it was found that the UAE has the highest penetration rate in the world of fiber to the home connectivity for the past two years. The Council added that 85% of homes subscribe to FTTH across the UAE. The next biggest FTTH markets in the MENA region include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Jordan. Additionally, the findings from the 2014 FTTH Council MENA study will be announced during the conference.

The FTTH solution creates a sustainable future with wider benefits to society and its citizens, and the economic health of communities and nations. In the MENA region, the adoption of FTTH is driven by national plans, new housing programs and the low quality of existing networks across the countries in the region, as well as the increase in mobile usage and cloud services.

The FTTH Council MENA Conference will provide a myriad of fiber to home technology solutions and case studies for attendees, including government representatives, who seek to improve productivity, preserve the environment and improve the living standards of citizens. The conference gathers a number of regional stakeholders under its umbrella, from the public and the private sectors, and it will provide a platform to discuss the introduction of the FTTH technology and exploits of the green spaces to accommodate them with the fiber optics infrastructure.

Alongside the conference, participants can visit the FTTH exhibition and find out more about available and up-coming technologies as well as networking with vendors, consultants, operators and other industry professionals. A pre-conference workshop will also be held a day before the conference to address the secrets of success from global best practices and smart cities.

“The conference will showcase new FTTH related technologies and trends, it will present updated data on FTTH deployments around the MENA region, and will provide networking opportunities among participants. We certainly hope that this conference will attract IT & telecommunications stakeholders not only from the region, but also from abroad,” added Dr. Al-Hedaithy.
