Orange County Hires New Economic Development Director(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ORANGE, Va., Oct. 6 -- The Orange County Economic Development Authority issued the following news release: The County is pleased to announce that Thomas J. Miller has been hired as the Director of Economic Development. Mr. Miller comes to Orange County with years of experience working in various economic development positions for local governments, regional public-private partnerships, and boards throughout eastern Virginia. Most recently, Mr. Miller held the position of Existing Business Manager for Hanover County Economic Development, in which he managed projects totaling $65,000,000 of capital investment and 550 jobs for Hanover County. "Tommy's impressive track record makes him a strong asset to our organization as we work together to expand Orange County's economic base through cultivating jobs, fostering workforce development, and stimulating business opportunities," remarks Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairman, S. Teel Goodwin. "We look forward to having Tommy Miller on board in Orange County." Mr. Miller holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Development from the Virginia Commonwealth University. Presently he is working toward certification from the International Economic Development Council. Additionally, Mr. Miller serves as a board member for the Hanover Industrial Air Park Association, Hanover Schools Business Advisory Council, Resource Workforce Investment Board, Hanover Career Student Resource Guide, Virginia Economic Developers Association, and the Virginia Business Real Estate Network. He also serves as a member on the Hanover Business Council, Hanover Association of Business Chamber of Commerce, Market Ashland Partnership, Business Retention and Expansion International, and the Urban Land Institute. Winston Sides, Chairman of the Orange County Economic Development Authority, states: "It is evident that Tommy has an enthusiasm for economic development, and we are eager to see what new milestones we can achieve with Tommy in Orange County, especially with the Route 3 corridor impending development." R. Bryan David, County Administrator, adds: "We are very delighted to have Tommy join Orange County as the new Director for Economic Development. I have been very impressed with Tommy's energy, knowledge, and experience with complex economic development projects, particularly in rural Virginia - all of which will enable him to hit the ground running."
